Talk Title: Immunotherapy Strategies and Immune Metabolism in Breast Cancer: From Treatment to Predictive Biomarkers
He Nucleus Xu is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Radiology in the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Her academic background includes a BSc in Physics from Ning Xia University and MSc in Optics from Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, and both MSc and PhD in Chemistry from Drexel University, USA. She performed her postdoctoral work at Britton Chance Laboratory of Redox Imaging at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Her research centers on metabolism and the development of innovative imaging techniques to identify metabolic biomarkers for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response. She applies these approaches across a spectrum of conditions, including breast cancer, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, Alzheimer’s disease, and aging, using cellular systems, animal models, and clinical samples.
In recent years, her research has expanded into breast cancer immunotherapy with a focus on immunometabolism—investigating NAD supplementation to enhance chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy for solid tumors, and evaluating the potential of optical redox imaging of immune cells as predictive biomarkers of treatment response.
Dr. Xu has been a member of ISOTT since 2011 and is a lifetime member of SPIE.
