Michele Lacerenza
CTO and co-founder of PIONIRS srl, Milano, Italy

Michele Lacerenza received his M.Sc. in physics engineering, nano-optics and photonics from Politecnico di Milano in 2018 where he pursued his PhD in physics in 2022. His work involves hardware development and on-field exploitation of compact, Time-Domain Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (TD-NIRS) platforms for cerebral and muscle oximetry monitoring in clinical and sport science applications. Michele has served as, reviewer, director, chair/organizer of international scientific events, participated in several high-impact international research projects contributing to unique advancements in neurophotonics, authoring more than thirty international peer-reviewed scientific publications. Thanks to a seamless blend of innovation and commitment to advancing healthcare through photonics and scientific excellence, Michele is now CTO and co-founder of PIONIRS s.r.l. a deep-tech company manufacturing and distributing disruptive photonics devices, with the aim of fostering novel discoveries and better diagnostics in the medical sectors.
