Talk Title: Insights from measuring superoxide in red blood cells
Joe Kao is a chemist and cellular physiologist whose research focuses on the design, synthesis, and application of molecular probes for studying physiological function. He is a Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. After a post-doctoral fellowship with Roger Y. Tsien, he joined the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Having lived in Greece during his formative teenage years, he is delighted to attend this ISOTT meeting in Thessaloniki.
