Talk Title : Metabolic imaging of glioma: interest in deciphering tumor heterogeneity and guiding patient care
Dr Thiébaud Picart is associate professor of Neurosurgery and Histology at the Hospices Civils de Lyon and at Lyon 1 University (France). His clinical activities are dedicated to the management of primary and secondary brain tumors, with a specific focus on 5-ALA fluorescence guided resection and awake craniotomy. He was also trained in Neuropathology.
Regarding his research activities, he studied the inter- and intra-tumoral heterogeneity of high-grade gliomas during his PhD. His work was dedicated to the study of the characteristics of a nationwide series of cerebellar high-grade gliomas for the translational part and to the study of the properties of glioblastoma stem cells for the fundamental part. After obtaining his PhD degree (2023), Dr Thiébaud Picart studied neuron-glioma interactions and their heterogeneity during his post-doc internship in the Glial Tumor Neuroplasticity Research lab, directed by Dr Shawn Hervey-Jumper at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Now, Dr Thiébaud Picart participates to the collaborative European project HYPERPROBE whose aim is to optimize glioma resection thanks to innovative photonic solutions. He is also a member of the Brain Tumor Group of The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) where he serves as a young investigator.
